ISLAMABAD:

International media visited the Line of Control (LoC) in Chirikot Sector on Wednesday and interacted with the victims of continued Indian ceasefire violations and witnessed the situation along the de facto border between the nuclear-armed neighbours.

During the visit, the international media was shown areas in Poonch sector towards the Indian side from where the Indian troops deliberately targeted civil population with heavy weapons, mortars and even using cluster ammunition in various sectors of the LoC against all international conventions.

The international media personnel also witnessed military posts deployed along the LoC eyeball-to-eyeball. The journalists were shown the Indian surveillance grid and obstacle system along the LoC, having depth of anti-infiltration grid, 3 to 4 kilometres from the LoC.

This surveillance system consists of three-layered defence. The first tier, which is close to the LoC – 500 to 1,000 meters – includes mines, surveillance detachments, underground sensors and long-range observation system.

The second tier on the border fence and main defences – 1,000-2,000 metres – includes wire obstacles, battlefield radars and anti-infiltration obstacle system, while the third tier is on the ridge lines, nullahs, gaps and roads.

The local population denounced the division of Kashmir as 85% population in Indian occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IOJ&K) is Muslim with Kashmir Valley having 95% Muslim population.

Wednesday marked the 347th day of continued siege of IOJ&K by more than 900,000 Indian troops with ratio of one soldier for every 8 Kashmiris as a result of August 5, 2019 illegal actions aimed at changing demography of area.

Since the BJP govt in power there have been increased ceasefire violations (CFVs). Since 2015 till date 11,815 CFVs committed by Indian troops along the LoC. The Pakistan Army doesn’t target civil population, as beside the Muslim population, targeting of civilians is against all ethos and conventions.

The innocent people targeted by Indian troops included women and children. People expressed their confidence in the Pakistan Army for giving a befitting response to India’s unprovoked fire.

The People expressed great admiration for the population across the LoC for fighting for their freedom and braving the brutalities of Indian occupying forces. People expressed their love for the brave Kashmiris and hoped that people of IOJ&K will taste the freedom soon.
