While we all may love the monsoon season in all its rainy glory, there is one thing that just cannot be ignored – the havoc it wreaks with our hair! With the rising humidity, everything seems to go haywire in the hair department, and our usual hair care routines just don’t seem to cut it.
What’s needed are major routine upheavals and new to-do lists to maintain healthy hair. As compiled from The Indian Express, here are some ways to make sure your tresses are loved through this season.
Get cleaning!
Healthy scalp hygiene means healthy hair and with the rising humidity, your scalp needs more thorough cleaning each week. A not-so-clean scalp means scalp build-up which in turn can lead to scalp acne and dandruff – nobody needs that in their life! Make sure that you use a mild shampoo at least twice every week, followed by a conditioner of your choice. Remember, no over-washing!
Taming the frizz
With humidity comes excessive frizz and nothing is more annoying than flyaway hair in your face, or your hair sticking up in all directions at all times. One way to combat frizz is to only use a soft cotton towel to squeeze out the water from your hair after washing. After that, make sure to let them air dry. Hair-dryers and other tools can make it worse!
Keep ‘em simple
Frizzy hair also means tangled hair, which can lead to excessive breakage and loss of precious volume. Nothing is more heartbreaking than seeing a huge wad of your hair come out in your hand as you comb through them. To avoid tangling, keep your hair tied up neatly – opt for stylish ponytails, braids, or sleek buns. They’re fuss-free and look chic, what more could we want?
Regular trims
It’s a universal fact that regular trims aid in overall hair growth and health, and the same stands true especially in this season. While we don’t encourage you to step out for a trim at the cost of your health if you can manage to avail of an at-home service, make the most of it! It will get rid of damaged, dry ends, which is key to reducing frizz and making your hair healthy.
Cover from rain
You may love to step out in the rain but protect your hair from getting wet as much as you can. To avoid getting caught in rain while you’re out, make sure you carry an umbrella with you. If it doesn’t rain much where you live, you may be tempted to dance when it does, but cover your hair to avoid excessive dryness and tangles.
