RAWALPINDI:

The transporters have raised concerns with paying vehicle token taxes through mobile wallet service as they complain of getting no receipt of payment and no mobile SMS message confirming the payment.

People paying vehicle tax have expressed fears if there was a chance of a new monetary scandal as they were not getting any record of the payments made via cellular service.

The motorists are worried that they do not receive any kind of message after payment through the digital platform. The transporters’ organisations are also protesting against the exercise being performed in this manner.

Action to be taken against vehicle tax defaulters

Further, as most of the bus, rickshaw, and truck drivers are non-tech-savvy, touts have emerged around the excise building. Holding android smartphones in their hands, they are charging up to Rs500 from the taxpayers as the commission for their services to make online vehicle tax payments.

Representatives of transporters Asif Khan and Tariq Khan told The Express Tribune that non-issuance of a receipt after payment of token tax had left them worried.

As an alternative, they suggested receiving token tax through banks or post offices.
