As the monsoon system that had gripped Karachi the previous day shifted towards Oman on Saturday, the likelihood of heavy rain in the port city over the next few days has declined, according to the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD).
However, PMD chief meteorologist Sardar Sarfaraz stated that drizzle and light rainfall were expected in the metropolis during the next two days.
He explained that the winds blowing in from the sea had been affected due to the existing low-pressure system, adding that this was predicted to continue until Sunday (today) evening.
According to the PMD, the highest temperature was recorded at 39 degrees Celsius on Saturday, with a minimum of 26 degrees Celsius and humidity ranging from 50 per cent to 75 per cent. This comes a day after Karachi saw its hottest day in 62 years, hitting 42.6 degrees Celsius on Friday before the rain cooled the city down.
The weather is expected to remain hot and humid today.
