PESHAWAR:

Around 1.8 million children are out-of-school in the province, of which 64 per cent are girls. This was stressed on Wednesday during an online session on ‘Challenges to Girls Education amidst the Covid-19 Crisis’ organised by Blue Veins, a non-profit organization. Students, parents, representatives of teacher associations, lawyers and others attended the session.

The virtual meeting was informed that Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa has made significant progress towards improving girls’ education in the last five. Both the government and civil society must be vigilant as they cannot risk rolling back this progress and remember for some children, the impact of coronavirus will be temporary, however, for others, this pandemic will be devastating and will alter the course of their lives.
