JEHLUM:

Cleanliness of urban localities was imperative before the rainy season to avoid stagnation of water, said Jhelum Deputy Commissioner (DC) Pervaiz Akhtar. Accumulation of rainwater, mixed with sewage, may cause spread of disease and viral infections, he said during his visit to different areas of the city to inspect the cleanliness and overall condition of the city. Jhelum DC visited different areas of the city including Civil Lines Road, Shandar Chowk, Chandni Chowk, GT Road, Dina Bypass, Jada Chowk, Chung Chi Stand, Toll Plaza, and other places. He was accompanied by other district officials. DC examined the cleanliness of the city and instructed to take measures for planting more saplings and removing encroachments. Akhtar directed the related officials to start cleanliness drive on GT Road and also ensure that all planted saplings are watered timely. DC also visited the Qinqui stand at Jada Chowk and directed to clear the site of encroachment. The official said that they were taking practical steps to convert the Jhelum into a model city.
