Sindh's virus tally crosses 100,000

40 more deaths reported in the province

After 133 days of the first case emerging in Sindh, the provincial tally has crossed 100,000 cases as 1,538 fresh cases were detected on Thursday.

According to Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah, as many as 100,900 coronavirus infections have been reported in the province, with a total of 543,400 tests conducted so far and 9,860 samples tested on the day.

Furthermore, 40 more patients lost the battle against the virus, raising the death toll in the province to 1,677.

The CM also stated that with 1,254 new recoveries, Sindh's recoveries had reached 57,627, which constituted a 57 per cent recovery rate.

Stating that 41,596 patients were currently under treatment in Sindh, the CM maintained that 39,697 of them were isolated at their homes, 1,500 in different hospitals and 399 at isolation centres. Of the patients under treatment, 581 are in critical condition, while 75 are on ventilators, he added.

Claiming that 722 of the new cases emerged from Karachi, the CM revealed that 204 of these were from East district, 166 from South district, 98 from Korangi district, 94 from Central district, 75 from Malir district and 49 from West district.

Meanwhile, he stated that 97 new cases had emerged in Hyderabad, 88 in Sukkur, 72 in Naushero Feroze, 66 in Badin, 55 in Sanghar, 53 in Shikarpur, 32 in Larkana, 26 in Sujawal, 24 in Thatta, 23 in Umerkot, 21 in Ghotki, 18 in Tando Allahyar, 17 in Qambar-Shahdadkot, 14 in Jamshoro, 12 in Mirpurkhas, six in Dadu, five in Jacobabad, four in Shaheed Benazirabad, one in Kashmore-Kandhkot and one in Khairpur.
