Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Qamar Javed Bajwa paid tribute to the Kargil War heroes Captain Karnal Sher Khan and Havaldar Lalak Jan, saying the martyrs "wrote history with their blood against all odds".

The 21st martyrdom anniversary of Captain Karnal Sher Khan and Havaldar Lalak Jan will be observed on Tuesday (today) at their native villages.
The wreath laying ceremony of Sher Khan and Lalak Jan will be held in Nawaz Killi, an area near Khyber-Paktunkhwa's Swabi district and in Ghizer, an area of Gilgit-Baltistan, respectively.
The ceremonies will be held to pay respects and homage to martyrs who rendered their lives defending and safegauridng the country's territorial integrity and sovereignty.

Both the army officials embraced martyrdom at Gultari sector along Line of Control (LoC) in 1999 during the Kargil conflict between Pakistan and India.
Captain Sher Khan and Havaldar Lalak Jan were two of the 10 recipients of the country’s highest military award, Nishan-e-Haider.
