QUETTA:

Balochistan Chief Secretary Captain (retd) Fazeel Asghar has said that the number of people testing positive for the novel coronavirus in the province has reduced by half as only 20% were reported to have contracted Covid-19 during the last 24 hours as against 40% due to effective implementation of the standard operating procedures (SOPs).

“People of the province are aware of Covid-19 and the government has strictly implemented SOPs across Balochistan. This has resulted in reducing the number of positive patients,” the chief secretary said while talking to the media during his visit to Dera Murad Jamali.

The chief secretary was accompanied by Naseerabad Commissioner Abid Saleem Qureshi and others during the visit.

Asghar denied rumours of shortage of medical staff and equipment, saying the hospitals had plenty of space to accommodate new patients while doctors were available round the clock to monitor affected patients. “The hospitals are equipped with enough ventilators to treat patients in critical condition.”
