LANDI KOTAL:

After keeping them closed for over three months, the provincial government plans to open two border crossings with Afghanistan, Angor Adda and Kharlachi, on July 12. Local authorities told The Express Tribune that the federal government and the foreign office has directed them to make preparations for reopening the border. The government has already conveyed a message to the Afghan government about its decision. Once opened, the crossing points will see all kinds of traffic and pedestrians cross over. Pakistan’s Special Envoy to Kabul Saddiq Khan in a statement on the microblogging network Twitter said that the Angor Adda and Kharlachi crossings on the Pakistan-Afghanistan border will help reopen trade with Afghanistan. After necessary arrangements by both sides, the two crossings are likely to become operational on July 12. The government had opened the border crossings at Torkham, Chaman and Ghulam Khan on June 22.
