Reopen shrine, say Sehwan residents
Sindh Police accused of highhanded behaviour against devotees
HYDERABAD:
With shrines across Sindh being closed for over three months, hundreds of Sehwan residents, mostly traders, staged a protest on Thursday demanding the reopening of the shrine of Lal Shahbaz Qalandar. They complained that not only were devotees being prevented from visiting the shrine, the local economy and the livelihoods of the townspeople were also under strain. The protesters added that the thousands of devotees who used to visit the shrine daily provided them with their incomes. They further accused the police of highhanded behaviour towards them.
