In the wake of the Supreme Court’s orders for the revival of the Karachi Circular Railways, a tender worth Rs102 million has been floated for carrying out multiple tasks on the railway route. The major works cited in the tender include the removal of debris and solid waste from the track between Wazir Mansion to Orangi, the rehabilitation of station buildings from Karachi City to Orangi, the rehabilitation of bridges, foot-bridges and platform shelters, the supply, stacking and loading stone ballasts at Wazir Mansion, and the rehabilitation of level crossings. KCR project director Ameer Mohammad Daudpota said the restoration of the mass transit system was not far away, adding that its revival was among the top priorities of Pakistan Railways.
