Covid-19 claims 27 more lives in Punjab

With 1,140 new infections, province-wide tally crosses 72,880

LAHORE: Covid-19 has claimed 27 more lives in the province, while the number of patients exceeded 72,880 after the registration of over 1,140 new cases during the last 24 hours.

Punjab Primary and Secondary Healthcare Department officials said on Saturday that the death toll crossed 1,650 in the province, while the number of recoveries was more than 21,340.

As many as 493 new cases of Covid-19 were registered in Lahore, one in Nankana Sahib, three in Kasur, three in Sheikhupura, 250 cases in Rawalpindi, three in Jhelum, 29 in Chakwal, 60 in Gujranwala, 15 in Sialkot, two cases in Narowal, 20 in Gujrat, 42 in Multan, 18 in Muzaffargarh and two virus cases in Vehari.

In addition, 57 virus cases were reported in Faisalabad, seven in Chiniot, six in Toba Tek Singh, six in Rahim Yar Khan, 15 in Sargodha, 25 in Mianwali, one in Khushab, five in Bahawalnagar, 10 in Bahawalpur, two in Lodhran, eight in Dera Ghazi Khan, three in Layyah, nine in Okara, nine in Jhang, 10 in Khanewal, one in Bhakkar, 23 in Sahiwal and five in Pakpattan districts during the last 24 hours.

The health department has so far conducted more than 470,500 tests for Covid-19 in the province.
