ISLAMABAD: Islamabad Bar Association (IBA) has called for a complete strike against the proposed amendment in Pakistan Legal Practitioners and Bar Council Act 1973.

The association has announced calling All Pakistan Lawyers Convention if an amendment is done in the law defining legal practitioners.

IBA President Malik Muhammad Zafar Khokar and Secretary Nabeel Tahir Mirza held an emergency meeting on Friday, in which participants deliberated over the recommended amendment in the Act and unanimously rejected it.

IBA office bearers termed the amendment a conspiracy by ill-minded people, adding that it was only to detain the consciences of the lawyers.
