With fewer tests, Sindh sees 22% positive ratio

KARACHI: With 5,103 fresh tests carried out in Sindh, provincial chief minister Syed Murad Ali Shah reported 1,150 new coronavirus cases on Friday - a detection rate of 22 per cent.

In a statement issued on the day, Shah drew attention to the high positive ratio, adding that it had to be controlled by following the guidelines issued by medical experts, the government and the World Health Organisation.

According to the CM, 27 more patients lost their lives to the virus as well, pushing the province's death toll to 1,205.

He added that 414,248 samples had been tested in Sindh so far, resulting in the detection of 76,318 cases at a 18.4 per cent ratio.

Furthermore, 1,252 more patients regained health, lifting the number of recoveries to 41,992 as of Friday. Currently, he claimed, 33,121 patients were under treatment, with 31,668 in home isolation, 78 at isolation centres and 1,375 in different hospitals. Furthermore, he added, 672 virus patients were in critical condition, with 110 of them shifted to ventilators.
