‘Routine immunisation must continue’

To save children from different diseases says Punjab Health Minister

LAHORE: Punjab Health Minister Dr Yasmin Rashid said on Friday that routine immunisation must continue to save children from different diseases and the hospital staff must be provided with protective equipment.

The minister expressed these views while chairing a meeting at the Committee Room of the Primary and Secondary Healthcare Department to review the performance of the Expanded Programme on Immunisation.

The meeting was attended by Secretary Primary and Secondary Healthcare Department Captain (Retd) Usman Younus, Special Secretary PSH Ajmal Bhatti, Chairman Corona Expert Advisory Group Dr Mehmud SHaukat, Director Health Services Expanded Program on Immunization Dr Bashir Ahmed Siddiqi.

The minister reviewed the progress of the Expanded Programme on Immunisation and Special Secretary PSH Ajmal Bhatti gave a detailed update on the steps taken for the prevention of communicable diseases in the province. Dr Rashid directed the authorities concerned that routine preventive activities other than coronavirus must continue as planned.

She said the OPDs at all district headquarters were working as per routine.
