Abbasi began his political career with the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) and later joined GDA. However, during his time in the PPP, he remained a close aide of late Benazir Bhutto.
His legacy in politics is carried forward by his son Moazzam Abbasi, also a GDA ticket holder, who recently defeated PPP's Jameel Ahmed Soomro in a Larkana by-poll.
Grieving Munawar's demise, GDA's Hasnain Mirza said Sindh had lost a prudent and dynamic politician who spent his life serving the province, as well as the country.
Hasnain, along with other GDA members, including Dr Fehmida Mirza and Dr Zulfiqar Mirza, extended condolences to the bereaved family. Besides, Hasnain appealed to people to protect themselves against the coronavirus, practice precaution and play their role in curbing the spread of the pandemic.
