PESHAWAR: To ensure the effective and efficient management of commercial properties it owns, the local government department of the province on Thursday launched an electronic property management system (EPMS).

The system, prepared by the Local Government Department, was formally launched by Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa (K-P) Chief Minister Mahmood Khan at the Chief Minister’s Secretariat in Peshawar on Thursday.

He was told that the system will help manage the commercial properties of the department and those of its subordinate departments, including the Town Municipal Administrations (TMAs) and development authorities. Under the system, an online digital portal will be created which will also allow the auction of commercial properties - a major source of revenue for local governments.

The system will allow individuals from across the country to participate in the auction of these commercial properties.

Moreover, it will provide a centralized mechanism to keep track of properties and other relevant records including rent or lease which will help promote transparency and accountability in the process while reducing operational costs.

CM Mahmood appreciated the department for introducing the system, remarking that it was the first of its kind system introduced in the entire country.

He added that it represents the significant progress made by the provincial government towards e-governance while making the entire auction process for commercial properties more efficient and transparent.

Special Assistant to Chief Minister KP for Local Government, Kamran Bangash, Secretary Local Government, Shakeel Ahmad Mian and other concerned authorities were also present on this occasion.
