PESHAWAR: With Pakistan one of the countries at most risk from climate change, speakers at a training workshop on Thursday stressed the need for developing a robust environmental information management system in the country.

The United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) and the Ministry of Climate Change (MoCC) had organised a training on environmental information management system (EIMS) at the University of Peshawar on Thursday. Stakeholders and participants from different departments and organisations attended the session.

The programme introduced and informed participants about the importance, design, and architecture of various global environmental information management systems, apart from training them to use “infographics and environmental data” as powerful tools for effective decision-making.

The participants agreed that all government departments and stakeholders will play their role in a coordinated manner for addressing key issues and safeguarding the environment in the country.

MoCC Country Coordinator Dr Saleem Janjua highlighted the importance of environmental information and management system in the country.
