ISLAMABAD: Federal Human Rights Minister Shireen Mazari on Tuesday called upon the Muslim world to shed its dependence of the Western world and adopt a united stance on critical issues such as Kashmir and Palestine to emerge as a respected global force. She welcomed the vocal statements coming from Arab countries on social media and other channels regarding the treatment of Muslims in India and the Kashmir issue.

Mazari said this while addressing an international webinar ‘India: Past, Present and Future - Perceptions of the Muslim World’. The webinar had been organised by the Institute of Policy Studies (IPS) in Islamabad.

British House of Lords member Lord Nazir Ahmed said that India is no longer a secular country since its political system is controlled by Hindutva extremist ideology that does not provide equal opportunities to its minorities.

He appreciated the Arab countries for beginning to see the extremist reality of India, which was hidden under the façade of a secular democracy for a long time.

Khalid Mehmood, another member of the British Parliament, called upon Kashmiris across the world to shed their mutual differences and stand united to put greater pressure on world powers.
