Justin Bieber refutes sexual assault allegation with series of evidence

Justin Bieber has refuted the allegation that he sexually assaulted a woman in 2014. The pop icon provided a litany of evidence in the form of receipts, emails, social media posts and press reports, to back up his claims on Twitter.

A woman posted from an anonymous Twitter account on Saturday night, claiming that the alleged assault happened at a Four Seasons hotel in Austin, Tex., on March 9, 2014. This would have to be the year Bieber made a surprise appearance at the South by Southwest music festival, according to Variety.

In his defense against the charges on Twitter, Bieber wrote on Sunday night, “I don’t normally address things as I have dealt with random accusations my entire career but after talking with my wife and team I have decided to speak up on an issue tonight.”

He referred to Hailey Bieber and his managers, Scooter Braun and Allison Kaye at SB Projects, who have represented the singer for the entirety of his career.

Bieber continued, “Rumors are rumors but sexual abuse is something I don’t take lightly. I wanted to speak out right away but out of respect to so many victims who deal with these issues daily I wanted to make sure I gathered the facts before I made any statement.”

He went on to claim that “there is no truth to this story. In fact as I will soon show I was never present at that location.” Bieber then provided emails, receipts and articles showing he stayed at an Airbnb on the night of the alleged assault and at a Westin hotel the next night.

"As her story told I did surprise a crowd in Austin at Sxsw where I appeared on stage with my then assistant side stage and sang a few songs. What this person did not know was that I attended that show with my then girlfriend Selena Gomez," the singer said, sharing an article from 2014 to prove that claim.

He then shared photos of himself on stage with his assistant and then on the sidestage in the streets of Austin on March 9 2014. Bieber continued solidifying his claim saying, "Here is article that shows we didn’t arrive in Austin that night from Selena’s show in Houston until late in the night."

The Yummy singer then also clarified why the user who accused him may have claimed that he was staying at the four seasons. "A tweet from March 10, 2014, not March 9, says they saw me there. This is that tweet."

However, he then reassured his fans that he never stayed at the Four Seasons on either the 9th or the 10th by adding a tweet of another user who at the time had claimed they saw Bieber at a restaurant the following night, not the hotel.

He continued to clarify that he stayed with Selena and their friends at an Airbnb because their hotel reservation at LÀ Quinta and not the Four Seasons was messed up. "Here are the receipts for the hotel on the 10th," added Bieber.

Ending his series of tweets, the Intentions singer said it’s impossible that this alleged incident took place, but he believes every sexual assault claim should be taken seriously. He also noted that he’s planning to take legal action against the claim.

“Every claim of sexual abuse should be taken very seriously and this is why my response was needed,” he wrote. “However this story is factually impossible and that is why I will be working with twitter and authorities to take legal action,” he concluded.
