Pindi swoops down on SOPs violators

RAWALPINDI: With facemasks deemed mandatory in the province for seeking service at all public and private institutions, Rawalpindi Deputy Commissioner (DC) Anwarul Haq on Sunday directed to launch a strict crackdown against people who are defying the government’s guidelines on the novel coronavirus (Covid-19) from today (Monday).

In a notification issued on Sunday, Haq directed all assistant commissioners (ACs) of Rawalpindi and other authorised district officials to take stern action against people who are not wearing a facemask in public places.

Similarly, Haq also directed police personnel, traffic wardens and civil defence department (CDD) workers to ascertain if the orders have been implemented.

Further, DC clarified that the institutions, shops and other service providers will face action if they do not display a “no mask-no service" sign at a location which is easily visible to all their visitors and patrons. Service-providers could be fined and even see cases registered against them if they fail to comply.

Moreover, Haq said the administration will take strict action against violation of SOPs in public transport vehicles.
