PESHAWAR: All employees of Mardan Local Government Department have been stopped from working after an inquiry unearthed discrepancies in 20 solarisation projects in the district.

Special Assistant to chief minister on Local Government and Rural Development Kamran Bangash in a statement on microblogging network Twitter on Thursday said that he had directed an inquiry headed by technical director of the department which found discrepancies in the on-going solarisation projects.

The concerned officials have been made officers on special duty (OSD) until a final report of the inquiry is received.

Empty Bills of Quantities (BoQs) for ongoing solariztion projects were detected in the department’s e-bidding system. Strict actions against the involved employees would be taken, he added.

Bangash said once a final report of the inquiry is received, departmental action would be taken against those involved in the negligence.

The inquiry report disclosed the date for the tender of Rs85.8 million for these solarization schemes was changed from June 9 to June 8. The statement of the responsible officials was also unsatisfactory, it added.

The CM’s special assistant said that he wouldn't tolerate any negligence or fraudulent practices in the local government projects. He also urged public to inform the department of any negligence in their respective areas to eliminate corruption.
