LAHORE: Police have deployed 3,000 officials at 280 pickets set up in 53 areas most affected by coronavirus till June 30.

The police contingents sealed at least 53 hotspots of Covid-19 as designated in a notification of the Home Department.

DIG Operations Lahore Ashfaq Khan said around 3,000 police officials have been deployed to contain the unnecessary movement of the citizens.

He added that around 1,000 police officials have been performing security duty at the exit and entry points of the areas in three shifts.

While giving details, a spokesperson for the Lahore police said that as many as eight areas of the City Division falling under Police Stations Shafiq Abad, Shadbagh, Shahdara Town and Badami Bagh have been sealed. These areas comprise of Karim Park Block No 2, 3, 4, Amin Park Street No 1, Street No 2, Muhalla Goal Bagh Shadbagh, Begum Kot Shama Colony, Nain Sukh Street 4, Bara Dari Road Street 2, Masoom Shah Road, Ravi Clifton Shahadra near Fouji Street, Hanif Park Street 9 Badami Bagh and Street 4 Malik Park.
