Sindh' coronavirus death toll soars past 900

KARACHI: Sindh saw the emergence of 2,115 more Covid-19 cases on Wednesday, in addition to 30 deaths, according to a statement issued by Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah on the day.

The CM said that following this development, the infection tally in the province had risen to 59,983 and the death toll had climbed to 916.

Giving a geographical breakdown of the newly reported cases, he said that 1,423 cases were detected in Karachi, with 437 persons testing positive in East district, 402 in South district, 198 in Central district, 150 in Korangi, 126 in West district and 110 in Malir. Besides, he added, 55 cases were reported from Ghotki, 41 from Larkana, 33 from Khairpur, 32 from Mirpurkhas, 30 from Kashmore-Kandhkot, 24 from Hyderabad, 15 from Naushero Feroze, 13 from Jamshoro, 12 from Badin, nine from Thatta and as many from Qambar-Shahdadkot, seven each from Umerkot, Shaheed Benazirabad and Jacobabad, four from Shikarpur, three each from Tando Muhammad Khan and Sanghar, and two from Dadu.
