Two more doctors contract Covid-19 in Abbottabad

National tally of infected medical professionals soars to 4,114

Another two doctors have tested positive for the novel coronavirus (Covid-19) disease at the Ayub Medical Complex (AMC) in Abbottabad.

The in-charge of the Covid-19 cell at the facility said that the spokesperson for the Young Doctors Association - Abbottabad chapter, Dr Ali Raza, was among those who have contracted the respiratory disease.

With the inclusion of these cases, the number of doctors infected with Covid-19 at AMC has jumped to 46.


As many as 256 healthcare workers had contracted the disease across the country on Sunday, raising the national tally of infected medical professionals to 4,114.

A report prepared by the National Institute of Health (NIH) and conveyed to the federal health ministry said that doctors remain the most affected from the pandemic with 139 contracting the virus over the past 24 hours as compared to 25 nurses and 92 supporting staff. “Currently, 2,466 doctors and 501 nurses have tested positive for Covid-19,” the report highlighted, showing that 1,147 health staff in the country have contracted the virus.
