Sanjrani writes to Naik over tax relief for Gwadar

Economic opportunities of Gwadar district need to be further strengthened, says Senate Chairman Sadiq Sanjrani

ISLAMABAD: In a letter to the Chairman of the Senate Standing Committee on Finance Senator Farooq H Naik, Senate Chairman Sadiq Sanjrani has asked the committee to review issues pertaining to exemption of income tax, sales tax, federal excise and customs duties for Gwadar district for ten years and submit a detailed report in the budget recommendations.

The Senate Chairman said that Gwadar district is the largest coastal district of the country and is rich in economic opportunities. “Economic opportunities of Gwadar district need to be further strengthened so that the economic activities could bring benefits to the people of Gwadar district and the entire country,” he said.

Chairman Sanjrani added that Gwadar district has the potential to provide new employment opportunities along with commercial, industrial and economic activities and there is a need to provide effective strategies and facilities to attract national and international investment.

The aforementioned matter was referred to the Committee on Gwadar District, Balochistan in accordance with the rules and regulations of the Senate.
