Jahangir Elahi elected Abbottabad DBA head

Polling held in six districts of Hazara

ABBOTTABAD: Elections for six district bar associations (DBA) of the Hazara region for the year 2020-21 have been completed successfully.

Polling was held peacefully and transparently, with male and female lawyers freely exercising their right to vote for their favourite candidates.

Abbottabad DBA elections were held for three positions including president, general secretary and library secretary while rest of the office bearers including vice president, additional secretary, club secretary and finance secretary candidates were elected unopposed.

Jahangir Elahi was elected as president after securing 231 votes, while Asad Jadoon secured 201 votes and stood second.

In a nail-biting contest, Faraz Ahmed secured the general secretary seat by a narrow margin of just five votes. He bagged 228 votes while his opponent, Siraj Hussain got 223 votes.

Elections 2018: consequences of a single narrative

Shahid Mahboob won the Haripur DBA elections, securing 262 votes for the seat of the district bar’s presidency. His opponent, Maqbool Hussain, could only secure 215 votes. Muhibullah Khan was elected as the General Secretary with 305 votes.

In Mansehra, Amir Khan won the presidential seat at the DBA by securing 232 votes. His opponent, Bilal Khan, could only muster 188 votes. Moreover, Raja Sajjad obtained 225 votes and was elected as the Vice president of Mansehra DBA.

In Battagram District, Gul Badshah got 26 votes during the DBA elections for 2020-21 whereas his opponent Rasool Khan secured 17 votes. Zia Ullah got 24 votes and was elected as the general secretary.
