Sindh sees 2,287 fresh Covid-19 cases
Death toll rises to 831 with 15 more deaths
KARACHI: As many as 2,287 new coronavirus cases were detected overnight in Sindh and 15 more contagion-related deaths were reported in the province, said Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah on Sunday.Following this, the infection tally in Sindh has risen to 53,805 and the death toll has climbed to 831, he added.
Meanwhile, 1,219 patients recovered from the infection, raising the total number of recovered people to 26,606, which constitutes 47.7 per cent of the total infected individuals.
The CM said that Karachi saw 1,499 fresh coronavirus cases on the day, of which 418 belonged to South district, 369 to East district, 242 to Central district, 185 to Korangi, 163 to West district and 122 to Malir.
Moreover, 68 people contracted the virus in Sukkur, 49 in Khairpur, 44 in Hyderabad, 39 in Ghotki, 38 in Matiari, 37 in Shaheed Benazirabad, 22 in Larkana, 20 in Sanghar, 15 in Mirpurkhas, 14 in Kashmore-Kandhkot, 13 in Jamshoro, 10 in Sujawal, eight in Thatta, seven each in Shikarpur and Dadu, four in Badin, three each in Umerkot and Naushero Feroze and one each in Qambar-Shahdadkot and Jacobabad.
The CM further said that 27,368 Covid-19 patients were under treatment in Sindh and of them, 25,483 were isolated at their homes, 1,789 were being treated at different hospitals, and 96 were quarantined at isolation centres.
He said 573 patients were in critical condition, of whom 80 were put on ventilators. The Sindh CM appealed to people to follow standard operating procedures and avoid public gatherings, so as to keep themselves safe against the virus.
