Govt earmarks over Rs1,320m for aviation projects

Money allocated in PSDP 2020-21 for completion of 15 projects across country

ISLAMABAD: The federal government on Friday earmarked Rs1,320.879 million in the Public Sector Development Programme (PSDP) for 2020-21 to execute 15 aviation sector projects.

According to the PSDP, an amount of Rs61.923 million would be utilized for construction of double story ladies hostel/barracks with provision of third story along with mess, recreation hall and allied facilities at Allama Iqbal International Airport of Lahore.

Rs90 million would be spent for construction of double story barracks with provision of third story with separate mess, allied facilities and recreation hall at Quetta Airport.

Funds amounting to Rs50 million and Rs69.756 million have been reserved for construction of Airport Security Force (ASF) camp at the Islamabad International Airport and building barracks accommodation for the ASF personnel along with mess and allied facilities.

Rs20 million have been kept for construction of barracks accommodation for the ASF personnel along with mess and allied facilities at Chitral airport.

Rs65 million have been earmarked for construction of double story barracks for the ASF at Faisalabad Airport and Rs21.280 million for construction of ASF’s double story Director South Secretariat offices along with allied facilities adjacent to the ASF headquarters in Karachi.

Rs100 million are set aside for construction of rainwater harvesting Kasana Dam.

Rs63.553 million are allocated for construction of triple story living accommodation for the ASF personnel at Lahore Airport and Rs99.367 million for construction of triple story living barrack for the ASF personnel along with mess and recreation hall at Multan airport.

An amount of Rs55 million has been allocated for installation of Weather Surveillance Radar at the Karachi airport, whereas Rs55 million would be utilized for installation of Weather Surveillance Radar at Multan airport.

Rs519 million are earmarked for New Gwadar International Airport (NGIA) project; Rs41 million for Reverse Linkage Project between Pakistan Meteorological Department and Marmara Research Centre, and Rs10 million for upgrading the ASF Academy in Karachi.

The PSDP is an important part of public sector investment, which channels domestic and foreign resources to implement the development programmes and projects prepared by the federal, provincial and local agencies.

The PSDP is the main instrument in government’s direct control to channelize funds and make developmental interventions. The government provides budgetary allocations to those projects and programmes that yield maximum benefits for the society in the shortest possible time.
