Mexico reports 587 more COVID-19 deaths
Total cases pass 133,000 as more than 4,700 new infections confirmed over past 24 hours
ANKARA: Mexico reported 587 more coronavirus deaths on Friday, bringing the country’s fatalities tally to 15,944.
A total of 4,790 more people tested positive for the new coronavirus over the past 24 hours, raising the overall count to 133,974, according to the Health Ministry.
Mexico confirmed its first case on Feb 28 and the first death from Covid-19 on March 19.
After originating in China last December, Covid-19, the disease caused by the coronavirus, has spread to 188 countries and regions, with the US, Brazil and Russia currently the worst hit.
The pandemic has killed more than 421,000 people worldwide, with the total number of infections surpassing 7.51 million, while over 3.54 million people have recovered from the disease, according to figures compiled by the US-based Johns Hopkins University.
