Grade VII students promoted to next class

Decision applicable to students in both public and private schools

RAWALPINDI: As per the government’s decision, the Punjab School Education Department has promoted to the next class all students in grade-VIII studying in public and private schools of the province, without holding any examinations.

In this regard, the School Education Secretary Sara Aslam has issued a notification on Thursday.

A copy of the circular was forwarded to the district education officers (DEOs) and deputy commissioners (DCs) in all 36 districts of the province.

It read that the decision, applicable to both public and private schools, has been in the wake of the novel coronavirus (Covid-19 outbreak in Punjab, it will be impossible to hold the annual examinations.

It further read that the decision had been taken in a meeting chaired by the Punjab Education Minister Murad Raas.

Earlier, the government had already promoted students from primary to grade-VII in all public and private schools to the next classes without the formality of annual exams.
