'Zaruri Tha' is a gift that kept on giving: Rahat Fateh Ali Khan

The song has garnered a total of 863 million views on YouTube since it was released

Singer Rahat Fateh Ali Khan's album Back 2 Love celebrated its six year anniversary this week.  On the occasion, singer reminisced about the songwriting process for the album.

In a press statement, Rahat reminisced about how the album came to be. According to him, it all started with song Zaruri tha. "Zaruri tha was made as a river but it became into an ocean giving way to the album Back to Love.

Back to Love was released on the occasion of IFA award in 2014, this song is included in this album. On this occasion, Bollywood superstars Priyanka Chopra, Sonakshi Sinha, Anil Kapoor and director Mahish Butt were all present when the album was unveiled.

The album features a total of 10 tracks and was made in collaboration with Indian musicians and singers like Salim-Sulaiman and Shreya Ghoshal.

Rahat took the opportunity to celebrate the success of the hit Zaruri tha from the album deeming it " a gift that kept on giving".

"The song has amassed a total of 863 million viewers on YouTube. It is a matter of joy and happiness for my entire team to receive such encouragement to a private song. This song was written by Khalil-ur-Rehman Qamar and produced by Salman Ahmed. The new generation loved this song immensely and they are listening to music the most," he said.
