LAHORE: The Lahore High Court on Wednesday restrained the National Highway Authority (NHA) from collecting a road charge from CNG stations and sought a reply from the federal government in this regard. In his petition, Abdul Kalaam, owner of a CNG station, said that the NHA had been collecting a 5 per cent of road charge but now it has increased the rate to 40 per cent. He said that the NHA did not have the jurisdiction to levy such tax. Justice Muhammad Khalid Mehmood Khan issued notices to federal government and NHA seeking their response and stayed the collection till the next date of hearing.
