Sindh Covid-19 death toll reaches 650
Infections tally nears 40,000 cases after 1,744 fresh cases
KARACHI: Sindh Chief Minister (CM) Syed Murad Ali Shah said on Sunday that 1,744 new coronavirus cases were reported in the province, while the contagious disease claimed 16 more lives.
Sindh CM said that with the 16 more deaths, the coronavirus death toll in the province had reached 650 and the emergence of 17,44 more cases had raised the virus tally to 38,108.
He said that among the newly emerged cases, 1,081 belonged to Karachi alone. Of them, 370 cases were reported from East district, 286 from South district, 199 from Central district, 119 from Malir, 60 from Korangi, and 48 from West district.
Meanwhile, 54 new cases were confirmed in Hyderabad, 39 in Larkana, 33 in Shaheed Benazirabad, 31 in Sukkur, 23 in Dadu, 23 in Ghotki, 14 in Mirpurkhas, 11 in Khairpur, nine in Jamshoro, eight in Tharparkar, two each in Jacobabad and Umerkot and one each in Thatta, Tando Allah Yar and Qambar-Shahdadkot, he added.

“The situation is going from bad to worse and we all have to respond to the situation responsibly,” the CM said, lamenting that people continued to ignore standard operating procedures despite the rapid spread of the virus.
Sharing the details about under treatment coronavirus patients, he said that of 18,682, 17,257 were in home-isolation and had been consulting doctors through telemedicine facilities, 1,362 were being treated at different hospitals, while 63 had been quarantined in isolation centres. Moreover, 414 patients were in critical condition, with 67 to ventilators, he added.
The CM said that 511patients had recovered from the virus on Sunday, taking the total number of recovered patients in the province to 18,776.
