RAWALPINDI: The rapid growth in Rawalpindi’s population has toned-down its beauty and has resulted in shortage of provision of basic civic amenities.
Rawalpindi Commissioner Muhammad Mehmood said this while addressing an event related to the Ring Road project on Saturday.
Mehmood said that the Ring Road project would prove as a game-changer for the garrison city. He added that the establishment of modern housing societies, economic and commercial zones would be a part of the road project.
The cattle, fruit and vegetable markets would be moved from their current locations that would alleviate traffic problems in the city, he added.
The commissioner informed that the provincial government would also build educational institutions and healthcare facilities along the road while the establishment of economic and industrial zones would generate employment for the locals. The length of the two-lane road would be 64 kilometres (kms).
