LAHORE: A 13-year-old boy injured by a dog in a park near Moon Market has been paid only Rs 2,000.

Muhammad Qasim, the elder brother of the victim, Azam, said on Saturday that they were paid Rs2,000 after the incident and asked to buy beef mince for him so that he could recover quickly.

People of the area said permission should not be given to take dogs into public parks and necessary steps should be taken to prevent such incidents in the future.

Only three days after Azam was injured, his elder brother Qasim reached the same park to earn money for his family.

While selling balloons in the park, Qasim told The Express Tribune that he was feeling sad on returning to the place where his younger brother was injured while doing the same work but he had to earn money for his family.

Qasim said both Azam and he sold balloons and after a day's hard work they manage to earn up to Rs600. He said he expected the authorities to help his family after the incident.

On June 3, Azam, who was selling balloons in the family park near Moon Market, was severely injured by a dog. The dog's owner was about to flee when Dolphin police arrested him.

According to the team's in-charge Safdar, as soon as they received a phone call on number 15, they reached the park and arrested the owner of the dog and shifted the injured child to a hospital.
