40 more Covid-19 patients pass away
16,487 patients were under treatment and 370 were in critical condition
KARACHI: As many 1,353 new coronavirus cases have emerged in the province, while 40 more patients lost their lives in the past day, disclosed Sindh Chief Minister (CM) Syed Murad Ali Shah on Friday.Expressing his concern over the rising death toll, Shah stated that 40 deaths within 24 hours was the highest till date since the first death was reported in the province on March 19. He added that the total deaths in the province had reached 615, which constitutes 1.7 per cent of the total cases.
He also revealed that with 7,377 more tests carried out, the Sindh government had now conducted 215,860 tests and diagnosed 34,889 infected persons to date.
The CM said that at present, 16,487 patients were under treatment and 370 were in critical condition, with as many as 62 on ventilators. Shah also shared that 1,005 more patients had recovered from the virus, bringing the recoveries to 17,787 - 51 per cent of the total cases.
