KARACHI: The Grand Health Alliance (GHA), comprising various associations of doctors, nurses, and paramedics, has announced a full-fledged protest on June 11 if the Sindh government fails to provide health workers with personal protective equipment (PPE) and monetary incentives by June 8.

Doctors, nurses, and paramedics held a joint press conference on Thursday, warning that they would begin a symbolic protest from Monday and would boycott outpatient departments and surgeries on June 11, if their 13 demands were not met.

“Healthcare workers will face even greater difficulties due to the relaxation in the lockdown and they have not been provided with any facilities or safety equipment,” said GHA’s Dr Mehboob Noorani. He demanded that the government establish an isolation centre for paramedical staff and announce compensation for health workers killed by the virus.
