ISLAMABAD: Contempt of court petition has been filed against Shahzad Akbar, the prime minister’s aide on accountability, in the Supreme Court for using “derogatory remarks” for an apex court judge.

The petition, filed by Akram Chaudhry on behalf of lawyer Alamgir Khan, contends that the special assistant to the PM on accountability has made a statement against SC judge Justice Qazi Faez Isa.

“Shahzad Akbar’s statement related to Justice Isa is a contempt of court,” reads the petition.

Justice Isa describes Farogh Naseem as a ‘tout’

It pleads that a contempt of court proceeding should be conducted against Akbar, who used word “accused” for Justice Isa.

It is pertinent to mention that Akbar is one of the respondents in a petition filed by Justice Isa against a presidential reference that seeks his removal over alleged misconduct.

The PM’s aide is also facing another case filed by Justice Isa, questioning Akbar’s credentials and appointment as SAPM on accountability and Asset Recovery Unit chairman.
