Rahat Fateh Ali Khan, Adnan Siddiqui mourn demise of Bollywood composer Wajid Khan

Although, the cause of death has not yet been confirmed, unconfirmed reports state that he was suffering from Covid-19

Pakistani popular singer and qawwal, Rahat Fateh Ali Khan has expressed shock over the sudden demise of Bollywood composer-singer Wajid Khan. The 42-year-old was a part of the popular sibling composer duo Sajid Wajid. According to Hindustan Times, He passed away in the early hours on Monday.

Confirming the news, singer Sonu Nigam posted on his official social media handle: "My brother Wajid left us."

The cause of death has not yet been confirmed, though unconfirmed reports have stated the artiste was suffering from Covid-19. A report in filmibeat.com, on the other hand, stated Wajid had been suffering from a kidney problem over the past few years and had reportedly been on a ventilator after being hospitalised recently.

Rahat took to Twitter and shared a picture with the late Bollywood composer with a caption, "I have just lost my brother today. Wajid Bhai was more than a friend and a composer to me. May Allah Bless him Jannat. Ameen."



He also shared a video, talking about the late composer.



Other than the O Re Piya singer, actor Adnan Siddiqui also shared a heartfelt note on the composer's demise.

Sharing a picture of the duo, Adnan wrote, "Inna lillahi wa inna ilayhi raji'un. The deepest loss of 2020 for me personally and for the years to come. I lost my brother and a very, very dear friend Wajid.
Wajid, my brother, not done. There were many more conversations left Bhai. Gone too soon, am shattered beyond repair."

Sharing one of the most fondest memories of the late musician, the Mom star added, "The most fondest memories of Mumbai I have are with Sajid and Wajid. They came to meet me and took me out for sehri. Not only that invited me to their place and I had nihari cooked by their mother."

He went on, "I came back to Pakistan and didn’t get a chance to visit them again but our bond became rock solid over the years. My weekends are not complete without chatting with both the brothers and they will be incomplete without you Wajid. Nothing I write will be enough today. I will forever remember you as ever-smiling, singing songs on the phone. Why did you go away so soon?"

Sajid-Wajid recently composed songs for Bollywood superstar Salman Khan during the ongoing lockdown, one of which was a number titled Pyaar Karona, a pop anthem encouraging all to fight the coronavirus. The song released in April was sung by Salman and also featured the actor in the video.

The composer duo also recently composed Salman's Eid special song, Bhai Bhai, which talks of communal harmony.

Sajid-Wajid frequently collaborated as composers for Salman Khan. In fact, they made their debut in the 1998 Salman superhit, Pyaar Kiya To Darna Kya.

The duo shot to fame with the Salman Khan blockbuster Dabangg in 2010, and there has been no looking back. Among numerous hits they composed were Tere Mast Mast do Nain and Hud Hud Dabangg (Dabangg), Do You Wanna Partner and Soni De Nakhre (Partner), Mujhse Shaadi Karogi and Laal Dupatta (Mujhse Shaadi Karogi), Mashallah (Ek Tha Tiger), Chinta ta Chita (Rowdy Rathore), Fevicol Se (Dabangg 2) and Raat Bhar (Heropanti).

 

Wajid also was a mentor of the music reality show Sa Re Ga Ma Pa Singing Superstar and Sa Re Ga Ma Pa 2012.
