Islamabad Metropolitan Corporation orders reopening of weekly bazaars

Mayor says implementation of Covid-19 guidelines to be ensured

ISLAMABAD: All the weekly bazaars in the federal capital under Islamabad Metropolitan Corporation (IMC) have been reopened.

Mayor Aziz was talking to the media workers during his visit to the weekly bazaar. Aziz was accompanied by the Assistant Director (AD) Malik Mazhar Saeed, Chief Inspector Haider Imam and other related officials.

The mayor said that the Sunday bazaars would remain open until any further orders from the federal government. “The weekly bazaars have a price control system while the management ensures implementation on official rates,” he added.

However, the mayor urged the stallholders and visitors to implement on all precautionary guidelines while shopping.

Further, the official said that sanitising walk-through gates have been installed at all 12 entry points of the bazaars. No one would be allowed to enter the marketplace without a facemask while the stallholders and visitors would be obliged to ensure the implementation of social distancing protocols.

“Even I am visiting the market to see how things are going.” The mayor said that the IMC staff had worked quite hard during the coronavirus pandemic and also carried out cleanliness campaigns in all sectors.
