ISLAMABAD: A woman was brutally beaten up and her clothes torn for complaining against a man who was harassing her on mobile phone.

Syed Zaheer filed a report at the Bhara Kahu police station on Friday that his wife had taken him into confidence that Azhar was harassing her on phone.

However, Zaheer told the police, when he asked Azhar to stop harassing his wife, he threatened him of dire consequences. Later, when Zaheer’s wife was alone at home, Azhar barged in along with 10 other people. They slapped, punched and kicked the woman and humiliated her by tearing off her clothes and dragging her around.

The suspects left the house threatening to kill her if she reported the incident to the police. Acting on the complaint, Bhara Kahu police have registered a case, but have yet to arrest any of the nominated suspects.

Separately, a taxi driver opened fire on passengers who were bickering on fare. Sabir Ali filed a report at the Golra police station stating that taxi driver Shabbir Hussain shot and injured his wife and cousin for arguing over extra fare.
