Police recover hashish, stolen property

Alleged murder suspect among nine arrested

ISLAMABAD: Islamabad police claimed to have arrested nine suspects from various areas of the city and allegedly recovered hashish, valuable and weapons from them, a police spokesman said on Friday.

Inspector General of Police (IGP) Aamir Zulfiqar has ordered crackdown against criminals involved in drug peddling and street crime. Following these orders DIG (Operations) Waqar Ud din Syed has directed all zonal officers to accelerate their efforts to curb the crime in the city and no laxity would be tolerated in that regards.

Following these directions, SP (Saddar) constituted special team under supervision of ASP Rana Abdul Wahab headed by SHO Shalimar police station Sub-Inspector Sulman Shah, Sub-Inspectors Azher Mehmood, Bilal Ahmed and others.

The police team arrested four alleged drug peddlers identified as Adnan Haider, Nadeem Rabani ,Sami Ullah and Asif and recovered 2.5 kilogrammes of hashish from their possession. The same police team also arrested three accused identified as Abdul Rehman, Asif and Sana Ullah involved in theft and recovered stolen property amounting to Rs250,000 from them. Case has been registered against them and further investigation is underway from them.

Meanwhile Koral police station SHO Inspector Asjad Mehmood, Homicide Sub-Inspector Ghulam Rasool along with others succeeded to arrested an alleged murder suspect namely, Ghufran Hussain. Koral police also arrested Yahya Guddu and recovered a pistol along with ammunition from him. Cases have been registered against these suspect and further Investigation was under way.

Operations DIG Waqar Uddin Syed has appreciated this performance and directed for further effective measures against those involved in anti-social activities.
