Motorist saved by NHMP after cardiac arrest

The boy was handed over to his family

ISLAMABAD: A motorist suffering a cardiac attack on Motorway was provided first aid by National Highways and Motorway Police (NHMP) and rushed to Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (Pims).

The timely action of NHMP saved the life of the patient, said a press release issued by the motorway police on Thursday.

According to NHMP, Inspector Khalid Rahim and Inspector Noman, during routine patrol near Burhan Interchange, saw a vehicle parked on the side of the road and stopped for help. They found Dildar Ahmed, aged about 55, in critical condition in a state of semi-consciousness. Sensing the urgency of the situation, they provided him first aid and called in an ambulance to rush the patient to Pims. At Pims, doctors said Ahmed had suffered a heart attack but survived due to timely action.

Separately, motorway police patrol officers found a 12-year-old boy in distress.

When they approached the child it transpired that the boy was mentally challenged and could not recall the name of his village. NHMP officers made announcements from local mosques of the nearby area giving description of the boy and asking his parents to come and take him.

This effort proved to be effective and the father of the boy was traced. The boy was handed over to his family.
