Eight-year-old boy succumbs to injuries at hospital

FAISALABAD: An eight-year-old boy who was injured in a traffic accident on the motorway near Muridwala area a day earlier breathed his last in the hospital on Thursday.

The death toll of the accident rose to seven as Ahsan, the young boy, succumbed to his injuries at the Samundri hospital.

The accident took place when a car collided with a dumper after its tyre burst near Chak 312GB in Muridwala police station limits. Consequently, six persons including two women and two minors died on the spot.

Three killed, two injured in road accident

Muhammad Ikram, a resident of Kasur, was returning home along with his family after paying a visit to his relatives in Bahawalpur when his car’s tyre exploded, throwing the car in front of the dumper. As a result, 32-year-old Ikram, his 40-year-old wife Musarrat Bibi, 28-year-old Rizwan, 40-year-old Nigina Bibi, five-year-old Adeel and eight-year-old Usman died.

In the incident, 8-year-old Ahsan, son of Safdar, and 10-year-old Abdullah, son of Ikram, were severely injured.

They were rescued and taken to hospital after being given immediate medical aid. Ahsan succumbed to his injuries whereas Abdullah is under treatment at the hospital.

Police handed over the body to the family after completing legal formalities.

Muridwala police said the dumper driver was not at fault in the accident.

“The accident happened because the car's tyre burst, leaving the vehicle out of control and landing it in front of the moving dumper,” a police official explained.

The front portion of the car was destroyed in the car crash, he added.
