Rescuers help 130 injured people

Search teams of the department fished out five corpses from the Chenab River

MUZAFFARGARH: The local rescue department saved the lives of 130 people injured in various incidents by extending emergency help while responding to 261 calls on its helpline during Eid holidays, said District Emergency Officer Irshadul Haq on Thursday.

As per a handout, he said prompt action was taken after 92 traffic accidents and all wounded people were shifted to nearby medical centres. Most of the traffic accidents involved motorcycles. As many as 64 motorcycle accidents were reported across the district.

Two people succumbed to their injuries in traffic accidents. Rescuers were assigned special dutis at recreational places including Chenab Bridge, Head Muhammad Walla, Taunsa, and Head Kaloo. Search teams of the department fished out five corpses from the Chenab River.
