Wafaq-ul-Madaris mulls madrassah reopening

Say future of students is at stake due to prolonged gap in education

ISLAMABAD: Religious education organisations have planned a meeting to decide reopening of madrassas, which were shut down along with other educational institutions as part of government’s directive to prevent students from catching coronavirus.

A meeting of Wafaq-ul-Madaris Al Arabia Pakistan, Jamiat Ahle Sunnah and others would be held  in Jamia Islamia Rawalpindi on Thursday to deliberate the possibilities of resuming suspended educational activities in the seminaries working under their respective control.

Other such meetings would be held in Karachi, Mardan and Bannu on the same day to devise common strategy regarding new admissions and annual exams of the seminaries, said a press release.

The central leadership of Wafaqul  Madaris said in the press releases that it was determined to save the future of the students in collaboration with the government.

The future of students was at stake due to delay in the annual examinations which were scheduled in March, 2020, said the press release.
