Opposition politicised pandemic, says CM Buzdar
Reassures his govt will curb contagion, save people from poverty
LAHORE: Punjab Chief Minister Sardar Usman Buzdar has said that the ‘coronavirus politics’ of opposition leaders will not work now. “First the opposition politicised the economy and now they are playing political games over the coronavirus issue.”
Speaking to the media, the chief minister added that the over 220 million people were fed up of negative politics of ’two faced’ politicians. “The Pakistani nation will not forgive those who are politicising the coronavirus pandemic.”
He remarked that the attitude of opposition leaders was like the pot calling the kettle black. “Those who were making tall claims had been exposed in front of the people. The opposition parties have displayed a non-serious attitude even during these extraordinary circumstances.”
Despite of the virus emergency, opposition leaders had tried to serve their self-interests, the CM claimed. “Time has proved that the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI)-led government took a timely decision, under the leadership of Prime Minister Imran Khan.”
Farsighted initiatives of the PTI-led government had helped a lot to deal with this virus situation, he asserted. “The government had to stop the spread of coronavirus as well as safeguard the people from poverty and hunger.”
Those who were criticising the government simply for the sake of criticism were unaware of the ground realities, he maintained. “Opposition leaders, despite the coronavirus pandemic, made a vicious attempt to destroy national solidarity. The opposition harmed the national interests for their personal gain.”
The opposition’s attempt to divide the nation at this time was highly condemnable, he stated. “The opposition leaders provided only lip service while their practical performance remained negligible.”
The PTI-led government had adopt a comprehensive and effective strategy to deal with the coronavirus disease, he said. “Prime Minister Imran Khan, without wasting time, took decisions with consultation. The opposition just created hue and cry and did nothing for the people.”
He commented that the leadership of PTI understands the suffering and pain of the poor people. “The opposition should know that this crucial time is not for point scoring but a time to remain united.”
