FAISALABAD: The District Bar Association (DBA) on Tuesday observed a strike to protest against the manhandling of Advocate Mian Jamshed Gill by some Dry Port officials. The lawyers boycotted the court proceedings. DBA president Muhammad Fawad Cheema said that Gill was manhandled and illegally detained by the Dry Port officials at Customs Deputy Collector Humayun Bhatti behest. He said the officer had misused his authority to have Gill tortured and illegally detented. Cheema said that the customs officials had also threatened Gill with death and told him to withdraw a case against Bhatti.
